Day 3: INCA TRAIL : CUSCO – PISKACUCHO – WAYLLABAMBA

Inca HikeWe will leave from Cusco and travel to Day 1 of the Inca Trail with Andean path travel starts with a fairly easy hike through the beautiful green Urubamba river valley. It is perfect for acclimatising to the area, for both novices and experienced hikers, and prepares you well for the rest of the trail. With our amazing porters carrying your equipment and some personal belongings, you will feel light and free to enjoy the valley and the great peak of Veronica looming above. Along the first day’s (insert time taken) hour trek you will visit some intact Incan settlements never destroyed by the Spanish, such as patallacta, and learn their detailed histories from your highly knowledgeable guides. A hot and delicious lunch and dinner are provided during the day as well as hot drinks with meals and an afternoon snack. The campsite is positioned in a small charming village with fantastic views of the mountains and is the perfect place to relax and chat with the other members of the group after the long trek.

Day 4: INCA TRAIL DAY: WAYLLABAMBA – WARMIWAÑUSCA – PAQAYMAYU

We’ll start the day with nice coca tea, early in the morning, just to take advantage of the shade of the mountains, its much better to hike up to the highest point of the Inca Trail. Here, we can literally see the various ecological zones and microclimates, which make up the area, mapped out in front of us. We will cross thehighest point of  Warmiwañusca pass at 4,200 meters/13,780 feet above sea level. After all those  beautiful vistas we will continue on to the Pacaymayo campsite, where we will enjoy our lunch and a well deserved rest.

Day 5: INCA TRAIL DAY:PAQAYMAYU – CHAQ´ICOCHA – WIÑAYWAYNA

Inca Trail Trek

Day 3 of the inca trail hike is slightly more relaxing than day 2 however the day started with a 5am wake up call and a 300 metre incline to start the day. About half way up the initial climb you came across an ‘egg shaped’ inca ruin called Runkuracay which gave stunning views of the valley. After this the hike continued, you will greeted by a false peak before reaching the highest point of the day which boasts a 360° view of the surrounding valleys and mountains reaching for miles. After this the hike becomes a lot easier with the route being mostly downhill. Between the highest point and the lunch stop we came across many small inca ruins where you guide gives a lot of insight to the history and purpose of the ruins including sayacmarka . While eating lunch we admired the view of Macchu Picchu mountain and the guinea pig rock. After an amazingly cooked lunch the trail became a rather steep decline for the remaining 3 hours. Around 30 minutes from the campsite for the evening we visited the largest inca ruin until reaching Macchu Picchu.
